Messi didn't deserve Golden Ball: Said, Maradona

Maradona: Messi didn't deserve Golden Ball

The 1986 World Cup winner felt Fifa made the wrong decision to hand the award to the Barcelona star and rued Argentina's defeat to Germany

Argentina icon Diego Maradona feels Lionel Messi did not deserve to win the Golden Ball following his performances at the World Cup.

The Barcelona star beat the likes of Thomas Muller, Arjen Robben and James Rodriguez to the prestigious individual award after scoring four goals in seven performances at this summer's tournament and guiding his team to the final, yet Maradona feels the 27-year-old only won it for commercial reasons.

"Messi? I would give him heaven if possible," Maradona said during his show on Telesur.

"But it's not right when someone wins something that he

GERMANY’S KRAMER CAN’T REMEMBER WORLD CUP FINAL AFTER BLOW TO THE HEAD

A World Cup final is the type of game a player wants to remember every minute of. Unfortunately, Germany’s Christoph Kramer, who took a blow to the head yesterday in a collision with Argentina’s Ezequiel Garay, now says he can’t remember much of it at all.

Kramer took a blow to the face early, and then continued playing for 14 minutes before slumping to the ground. Kramer had to be carried off. (Gonzalo Higuain also took a blow to the head from the knee of German keeper Manuel Neuer in the game, but never seemed to lose consciousness.)

"I can’t really remember much of the game," Kramer told German newspaper Die Welt.

"I don’t know anything at all about the first half. I thought later that I left the game immediately after the tackle. I have no idea how I got to the changing rooms. I don’t know anything else. In my head, the game starts from the second half."

James Rodriguez Wins Golden Boot

Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez was confirmed as the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner after none of his main rivals managed to score during Germany’s 1-0 extra-time win in the final against Argentina.

Rodriguez scored his all-important sixth goal from the spot as Colombia exited the competition at the quarter-final stage when beaten 2-1 by Brazil. However, his nearest challengers – 2010 Golden Boot winner Thomas Müller of Germany and Argentina’s Lionel Messi – failed to add to their account in the Final, decided by an exquisite volley by Bayern’s Mario Gotze in the 113th minute.

Monaco star Rodriguez scored six in five games, opening his account in the 3-0 win over Greece and scoring in victories over Ivory Coast and Japan, before his double in the last 16 against Uruguay which included a contender for Goal of the Tournament.

Germany Wins The World Cup 2014 For The 4th Time

Mario Gotze, The Hero Of Final For Germany

Germany are the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ champions, lifting the Trophy for the fourth time in their history after overcoming Argentina 1-0 courtesy of an extra-time goal by Mario Gotze at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.

The substitute settled a tie that was in the balance from the first minute until the last with a finish of startling composure given the circumstances, pressure and surroundings. His strike proved the difference, with Argentina unable to respond in what little time remained, adding another star to the Europeans' crest following their triumphs in 1954, 1974 and 1990.
